On the bright side, this means that you will be seeing more relevant ads (after all, you are seeing ads in your timeline, so why not make them more interesting?) On the flip side, this means that your every movement on the Web is now being tracked by yet another company. If that pissed you off, here is the way to opt out of tailored ads.

  1. Go to Twitter.com and login to your Twitter account.

  2. Go to Settings. Scroll down the list until you reach the “Personalization” section.

  3. Uncheck the box “Tailor Twitter based on my recent website visits” and “Tailor ads based on information shared by ad partners.”

  4. Scroll down to the end and click “Save Changes”. Note: As Twitter supports “Do Not Track”, turning on the “Do Not Track” feature in your browser will also prevent Twitter from collecting data about you. What do you think? Do you prefer to being track and see more interesting ads, or protect your privacy and see irrelevant ads? Image credit: Twitter
