FullThrottle allows you to tweak a variety of the hidden power levels built-in to your PC. When you use Windows’ built-in high performance power scheme, this overheats most PCs, especially laptops, very quickly. FullThrottle helps prevent that by giving you more individualized controls.

How to Use FullThrottle

  1. Download FullThrottle from the developer’s web site.
  2. After downloading it, run the installer. This is a standard install with no fuss or real choices to make. Once finished, you can start using FullThrottle right away without restarting Windows.
  3. Right-click the tray icon for FullThrottle. This will open its menu.

FullThrottle has three modes: “Full Throttle”, “Automatic” and “Disabled” –

Full Throttle turns Windows’ high performance power scheme on Automatic choose what plan you want to run in the settings Disabled turns both features off indefinitely.

  1. You can switch back and forth between the three modes by clicking on any one of them.

  2. Clicking “About” gives you access to the developer’s web site and more information on FullThrottle.

  3. If you click on “Settings,” you can change the language, change the colors of the toolbar icon and turn on what your Automatic settings will be.

You can select either option by clicking it and going forward, whenever you choose Automatic, this will be the choice that is turned on. 7. Clicking “Add program…” allows you to select programs that will always run on FullThrottle’s settings.

This is where FullThrottle becomes the most useful. You can choose programs, such as Google Chrome, games you play or anything else that is intensive on system resources. 8. You’ll want to locate the EXE of the program you want to add to FullThrottle, select it and click “Open.” 9. Hover over the program you added in FullThrottle’s menu, and you’ll be given the option of allowing full throttling or disabling it.

By clicking “Allow”, you let FullThrottle work to make your program operate more efficiently on your PC. Whenever you run that program and FullThrottle is running, it’ll automatically increase performance for it until you disable full throttle or automatic settings in the menu or remove the program entirely. When you exit FullThrottle, it’ll automatically revert to your previous power plan so you don’t have to worry about doing it yourself.

Tips for Using FullThrottle

These are some tips to keep in mind when using FullThrottle:

If you aren’t running Administrator mode, automatic and full throttle modes will be disabled by default. This prevents throttling settings being changed for programs that don’t need it or won’t benefit from it. Double-clicking the FullThrottle tray icon will switch between Automatic and Full Throttle modes.

Conclusion

Not all programs benefits from FullThrottle in way you can see on your PC. Give FullThrottle a few days with each program to see if you notice an overall performance boost on your PC before giving up on it all together. FullThrottle can be one of the quickest ways to change power plan settings in Windows without figuring it out on your own. Image credit: biker riding motorbike by BigStockPhoto
