Adding Gmail Account to your iPad:
You must have an active Gmail account that you will be using to have your calendar synced with your iPad. On the SpringBoard of your iPad, tap on the Settings icon. It will open the Settings section on your iPad from where you can control everything of your iDevice.
On the left-hand side, you will see various menus. Just tap on the one that says “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”. It will open up the page where you can manage Mail and Calendar accounts for your device.
On the screen that follows, tap the “Add Account…” option. It will let you add a new Calendar account to your device.
You will now have various services you can add accounts for. Since we are adding a Gmail (Google) account, tap on the “Gmail” icon.
Your iPad should now ask you to fill-in your Gmail details. Enter your Name, Email, Password and a Short Description. Then hit the Next button.
Three options should now be displayed on your screen. Make sure the Calendar option is turned ON. Then hit the Save button and it will save all of your settings.
Your Gmail account has been successfully added to your iPad. The next step would be to enable it in the Calendar app. Tap on the Calendar icon on your iPad’s SpringBoard. It will open the Calendar app.
On the top-left corner, you should see a button saying Calendars. Tap on it and it will show you the list of available calendars.
Make sure that there is a checkmark before your Calendar name under the Gmail heading. It indicates that your calendar has been enabled and you can start using it right away.
If Google Calendar is what you use as your primary calendar, you may want to set it up as your default one.
Settings up a Default Calendar:
Tap on the Settings icon on your SpringBoard. Then tap on the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” tab. Scroll down and tap on the option that says Default Calendar. It will open the page where you can see all of your calendars and choose any one as your default calendar.
Tap on the name of your calendar under the Gmail heading and it is your default calendar from now on.
Conclusion:
Having your calendar synced with all of your devices is always a good idea as you get to know about your events even when you do not have access to a particular device you own that you have setup your calendar on. Google has made the sync process much easier than anything else.
