Today, I’m going to share a solution that can be used in Google Chrome, via an extension called Snooze My Email for Gmail. With this extension you’ll be reminded, at a later day/time, of the specific email messages that you choose. Note: If you’re using Firefox, you may want to refer back to a tool we’ve shared before called Boomerang. Here’s how to snooze an email message in Gmail:
Install the Snooze Your Email for Gmail Chrome extension. After installation, the options page will automatically open in a new tab.
Choose the options that you’d like to use. It’s a good idea to leave desktop notifications enabled for when an email has finished snoozing. You can open messages directly from the notification and you can also re-snooze messages, which is pretty useful.
Additionally, you can enable a notification sound, have notifications close automatically, and automatically mark emails as unread when finished snoozing (another useful feature).
When you’re done customizing the options, click on the close button.
Now go to your Gmail account. If you already have it open in a tab, you’ll need to refresh the page.
When you open an email message, you should see a Snooze button at the top – next to the More drop-down menu.
When you want to snooze a message, click the Snooze button and choose how long you’d like to snooze the message for.
You can choose minutes, hours, days or set your own day and time. The calculated time in which the email will finish snoozing will be displayed for a few seconds at the top of your inbox.
This is the day/time that you’ll receive a desktop notification for that message (if you’ve enabled this option). Also if enabled the message will be marked as unread, this way you’ll notice it in your inbox. There you have it. As you can see, it’s pretty easy to get an email out of the way and receive a reminder about it at a later time. Image credit: Sleeping Woman by Big Stock Photo.
