Requirements
It is necessary to ensure that the Skype app on your device is updated to the latest version to ensure that custom virtual backgrounds work properly. The feature was introduced back with the 8.59.0.77 update for Mac, Windows, Linux and Web. Thus, if your device is running any version of Skype prior to this, the custom virtual background feature will not work. Unlike Zoom, Skype does not limit the custom background feature to specific systems only. There are no minimum specifications required, according to the website, which means the feature should work on all systems that can run Skype.
