Some of the sections in the Settings app even include video tutorials. Though the videos are not played automatically each and every time you open the settings app, they are streamed directly from the Internet.

Unless you are a complete beginner, you may not be using these tips that often. Here’s how to remove the tips from the Windows 10 Settings app.

Remove Tips Using Group Policy Editor

If you are a Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise user, the easiest way to remove tips from the Settings app is to use the Group Policy Editor because all you have to do is point and click.

  1. Open Group Policy Editor by searching for “gpedit.msc” in the Start menu. Alternatively, press Win + R, type “gpedit.msc” and press Enter.

  2. In the Group Policy Editor navigate to “Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel.” Here, find the “Allow Online Tips” policy in the panel on the right and double-click on it to open the policy.

  3. In the policy properties window, select the “Disable” radio option. Click on the “Apply” and “OK” buttons to save the changes.

  4. If you want to, you can restart the system to make the policy changes take effect. To make things easier, search for the command prompt in the Start menu, right click on it and select “Run as Administrator.” Now, execute the below command.

That’s it. From now on you won’t see any helpful tips or videos in the Settings app. However, the Settings app still displays the “Get Help” link. When clicked, the link opens the Get Help app where you can share your issues and get help from the support team. If you want to re-enable the tips, select either the “Enabled” or “Not Configured” option in the policy settings window.

Remove Tips Using Registry Editor

For Windows 10 Home users, there is no other way but to use the Registry Editor to remove regular text and video tips from the Settings app. Though not hard, you should be careful when editing Windows Registry. So, before proceeding to edit the Registry, back it up. When needed, you can easily restore the registry from the backup with just a few clicks.

  1. Search for “regedit” in the Start menu and open it. Just like the Group Policy Editor, you can also open it with the Run dialog box. Just press Win + R, type “regedit” and press Enter.

  2. In the Registry Editor, we need to create a new key and configure it. Copy the below path, paste it in the address bar and press Enter to navigate to the target key.

  3. On the right panel right-click and select the option “New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.” Name the new value as “AllowOnlineTips” and press the Enter button.

  4. After creating the said key, double-click on it, enter “0” in the Value Data field and click on the “OK” button to save the changes.

That’s it, the change is instantaneous and you won’t see any tips in the Settings app. However, if you are still seeing the text and video tips within the Settings app, then try restarting the system, and you should be fine. If you want to re-enable the tips, either delete the “AllowOnlineTips” key or change the value data from “0” to “1.” Comment below sharing your thoughts and experiences regarding using the above methods to remove the tips from the Settings app in Windows 10.
