Hide Bookmark Bar

Open the Chrome browser, and go to the bookmark bar that is visible directly beneath the address bar at the top of the screen. Right-click on the bar with your mouse. A drop-down menu will appear. Scroll down the menu until you see the “Show Bookmark Bar” option near the bottom with a tick mark next to it. Tap on this option so the tick mark disappears as well as the bookmark bar.

If you want to make the bookmark bar visible again, click on the three dots at the top-right corner of the browser. From the drop-down menu, tap on the Bookmarks option, and from the new menu, select “Show Bookmark bar.” You can also use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + B.

Hide in Other Folders

Chrome classifies its bookmarks into separate folders visible on the bookmark bar that you can name according to your preferred categories, such as work, research, fun, etc. You can change the location of the bookmark to a new folder where it will be difficult to find. To do so, simply right-click on the bookmark, and from the drop-down menu select Edit.

From the new pop-up menu that appears, select the bookmark folder you wish to shift that particular bookmark to so it gets highlighted in blue, and click on Save.

Alternately, you can shift an entire folder full of bookmarks you wish to hide into another folder on the bookmark bar simply by dragging the folder with your mouse cursor and dropping it inside another folder on the bookmark bar.

Rename the Bookmark

You can change the name of the bookmark or folder to something non-suspicious. To rename a bookmark, right-click on the bookmark, and from the drop-down menu choose Edit. In the pop-up window, write the new name for the bookmark in the empty space next to Name and click Save.

To rename a folder, right-click on the folder, and from the drop-down menu, select the Rename option.

Send to Mobile

Finally, if you are concerned about sharing the bookmark with other users of your PC, you can send the bookmark or bookmark folder to your mobile via your personal Google account. This way, the bookmark will no longer appear on your the Chrome browser on your PC but will still be available on your mobile. Go to the bookmark bar, right-click with your mouse and from the drop-down menu, select the “Bookmark Manager” option.

On the new page that opens, cut a single bookmark or bookmark folder and paste it inside the folder titled Mobile bookmarks by clicking on the three dots next to each bookmark and folder.
