Disabling Contacts Found in Mail
You do not need a third-party app to get the job done, as it can be done using the Contacts app that comes preloaded on all Macs. Make sure to close the Mail app before you follow these steps.
Click on Launchpad in your dock, search for and click on “Contacts,” and the app will launch for you.
When the app launches, click on the “Contacts” menu followed by “Preferences…” to be taken to the Settings panel for the app.
Ensure that you are in the General tab in the Preferences panel. In here you will find an option that says “Show contacts found in Mail.” This is the option that triggers the Mail app to go through your emails and find contacts and offers to add them to your contacts list. Disabling this option will stop the Mail app from going through your emails and finding any contacts to be added. To disable, just uncheck the checkbox given before the option name.
When you uncheck the checkbox, you will get the following prompt that asks if you really wish to turn off the feature. Just click on “Turn Off.”
From now on, whenever you go through your emails, you will not get any offers from your system asking if you would like to add a specific contact. In the future, if you wish to enable the feature, you can do so by launching the Contacts app, heading to the Preferences panel and selecting the checkbox that you unchecked earlier.
