Installation
Begin by downloading the free AeroWeather gadget. It works for any computer running Windows Vista or Windows 7 (with Aero enabled) Home Premium and Ultimate. This gadget also requires you to have .NET Framework installed. If you don’t, it will prompt you to install it during the installation wizard.
Setup
Once the gadget is downloaded, run it and install to your desktop. To begin, enter the location zip code or city name you want to track weather in. The latest version now allows international use so you can use it when you travel or if you live outside the US.
Once the location is verified, choose to have your desktop change color based on weather conditions or temperature. You can easily change which option you have displayed by opening the application and adjusting any of your settings.
Customize the colors to be displayed by setting minimum and maximum temperatures in either °F or °C. Temperatures near or below your minimum temperature will display purple hues whereas, temperatures near or above your maximum temperature will display red hues. If you set your display for conditions, the UI will be grey for cloudy, blue for sunny, white for snow, and dark grey for rainy weather.
Enabling night mode, will calculate the sunset time based on the weather server for your location and dim the Aero colors accordingly. When the sun rises in the morning, the colors will auto-brighten to the lively desktop you have come to enjoy!
Customization
If the standard default colors don’t suit your fancy, download AeroTuner to create your own Aero colors! It’s a freeware tool for Windows 7 which allows you to customize the color, stripes, glow and blur balances. In seconds you can create a unique color scheme unlike anyone else.
Download and install the application. Then open it and begin by adjusting the main color. Click on the main color box to open the menu of colors to chose from. Repeat for the glow color blending with the main color to create a custom Aero color.
Here is where you can really be creative by adjusting the color, after glow, and blur balances to your liking. Then adjust the Aero stripes to be more noticeable or fade away
Be sure to save your changes before closing the window. To restore the settings to the default settings, simply click on the “Restore” button.
It’s fast and easy so why not add a little color to your day?
